About A2 beta-casein protein milk

The majority of milk to be found in major supermarket chains are homogenised, this can make them difficult to digest for some people.

Also, they mostly contain A1 type of beta-casein, which yields a protein fragment that has been shown to have biological effects that could equally affect certain individuals.

The A2 beta-casein protein rich Brown Cow milk may not. Our complete herd was tested many, many years ago . We sent hair samples of each and every one of the cows in our dairy herd to New Zealand for analysis and the results confirmed that the majority of the herd carried the A2 beta casein gene the rest carried both; since testing we have bred only A2 beta-casein cows in our herd.

Numerous studies on the variants of beta casein suggest that milk containing only the A2 beta casein protein type may provide further benefits to some people, including those relating to heart health, digestive function and some intolerances and are the focus of continuing studies by international research groups.

Brown Cow Organics Yoghurt - A2 beta-casein protein

Our Brown Cow Organics & River Cottage live organic yoghurts are made only from the naturally creamy, 5% fat, organic, A2 beta- casein protein milk from our Guernsey cows.

If you’ve ever experienced problems with dairy you may have an intolerance to the A1 beta-casein protein, which is in most cows milk.

So try our yoghurts; only our Guernsey A2 beta- casein protein rich milk is used in all our yoghurts and that may make a difference.

You should always check with your Dr before ingesting a milk/dairy product if you have been medically diagnosed with galactosaemia, lactose intolerance, a milk allergy or other milk protein intolerance

Of course all the same principles of our milk apply to our thick, creamy live organic yoghurts produced only from our own organic Guernsey milk. We've had our yoghurt independently tested also and on comparison with other leading brands of yoghurt it is much higher in Omega 3s and other trace elements (see graph). They are potted in recyclable re-usable pots with lids, in keeping with our packaging ethos.
