2016 Awards

Food & Farming Industry Award

Perridge Farm (the home of Brown Cow Organics) won Highly Commended for Champions in Sustainable Farming Award in the prestigious Food and Farming Industry Awards 2016 which was presented to them at the House of Commons dinner to celebrate the awards.

The award judges and organisers said of Brown Cow Organics:
"Our highly commended farmer has succeeded in organic production by only supplying the independent sector.. The farm has a 100 head Guernsey herd and through the Brown Cow Organics business supports 11 local families. On the farm every effort is made to encourage healthy soils to produce sustainable nutritious food." The award was sponsored by NSF - one of the most widely known and respected global food assurance brands

Judith Freane of Brown Cow Organics said:
"It was fascinating to talk and be with other farmers that share the same drive and enthusiasm for farming as us. Winning this award is truly an accolade to commemorate our 30 years in farming."

After dinner speaker Giles Brandreth said:
"Farmers were the most fulfilled profession that he'd ever met; that whatever happened locally, nationally or internationally we always had a task to do, come what may - to produce food and that therein lay a passion for our daily tasks and a shared vision rarely seen with such longevity in other professions."

"A Marriage made in Heaven"

One of our customers favourite yoghurts from the River Cottage range we produce for Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall.

Here's what the Judges had to say.

"Beautiful colour with great presentation. We were surprised and delighted by the taste. Not too sweet and great to have a blackcurrant that tasted of the fruit. Lovely swirls of creamy yoghurt mingled with intense blackcurrant; delicious yoghurt with fine acidity balances the intense dark sweetness of the excellent blackcurrants which retain their shape and bite: a marriage made in heaven."
