Here at Brown Cow Organics our relentless passion for producing excellence in food has to extend to the packaging. Hence we do not vac pack or shrink wrap our meat. It is an awful, unnecessary process that sucks the juices out of the meat.
The process of vac packing also requires energy which we consider a waste. It looks pretty bad too and is commonly described by the more discerning as meat in blood bags. It might be an idea when you next purchase a vac packed piece of meat, to open the packet and smell the meat - that should tell a story
Packaging that we use for our overnight deliveries.
Woolcool Brown Cow Organics chose and have used Woolcool® for their chilled produce deliveries for some time and now this award-winning insulated packaging was featured on Simon Mayos' BBC2 Radio Show at 6.30pm on 10th December 2010, discussing how the innovative sheep's wool packaging proved a big hit for festive food deliveries this year, where others follow, Brown Cow Organics lead!
Woolcool® is the award-winning and entirely environmentally friendly insulated packaging for the direct delivery of chilled and frozen food. Using the most natural, abundant and sustainable insulation, woolcool® provides the environmentally responsible alternative to non-biodegradable polystyrene and polyethylene packaging. Manufactured in the UK, British wool is washed, scoured, felted and sealed within recyclable food grade wrap to create insulation liners for a range of recycled and recyclable cardboard delivery boxes.
Dairy Produce packaging
Our River Cottage Yoghurt is packed in glass jars why? Because glass is reusable (try making jam) & recyclable. Our Brown Cow Organics yoghurts are packed in re-useable tubs with re-sealable lids. Simple really.
